Our Action Plan

Our Action Plan 2025–2027

At Health Translation Queensland (HTQ), we’re focused on turning research into real-world health improvements. Our Action Plan 2025–2027 sets out the goals and priorities that will guide us over the next 2 years as we work together with our partners to make health service delivery more efficient and effective.

Our Action Plan is built around 3 clear goals:

  • Connect the right people to tackle Queensland’s health service priorities
  • Build capability and amplify an innovation culture across the research translation workforce
  • Remove barriers to collaboration so research can move more quickly into practice

Each goal includes specific priority areas that focus our efforts and create measurable impact.

Goal 1: Connecting the right people

  • Priority #1
We're developing and testing a collective approach to using research to solve large-scale health challenges—starting with establishing new care models between Emergency Departments and Mental Health Units to ensure patients presenting to hospital with mental illness are triaged and treated promptly.

Goal 2: Building capability and culture

  • Priority #2
We’re delivering a structured mentorship and training program to support early-career research-active clinicians across our partnership.
  • Priority #3
As a partnership, we are developing a maturity model as a blueprint for building innovation and research capability in HTQ partner health services.
  • Priority #4
We’re developing and promoting easy-to-use navigation tools and a Translating Research Into Practice (TRIP) pathway to help frontline staff apply evidence in their everyday work.

Goal 3: Removing barriers

  • Priority #5
We’re streamlining approval processes across our partnership to make it easier to work across organisations by leveraging HTQ’s Research Passport Agreement.
  • Priority #6
We’re enhancing and promoting our Clinical Trials Hub as a central go-to resource for researchers and trial teams looking to plan, manage and track their clinical trials.

This Action Plan is about doing things differently—together. With the support of our partners, we’re helping Queensland’s health system become more connected, capable, innovative and responsive through research translation.
