Collaboration, truth, inclusivity and creativeness are top values for Natalie Bergman, who jumped at the opportunity to join the Health Translation Queensland (HTQ) team in 2024.
Covering the role of Principal Project Officer while her colleague is on maternity leave, Natalie supports HTQ’s work program and strategic projects across several organisational priorities.
Before joining HTQ, Natalie worked as a Personal Assistant at KTL Collective, a private consultancy providing advice, guidance and analysis to support campaigns for justice and equality.
She was also an Executive Officer for the Yes23 Campaign at Australians for Indigenous Constitutional Recognition during 2023-2024, which is her career highlight.
“It was highly motivating, life-changing and inspiring to be a part of Australian history, regardless of the result, and I will continue to support First Nations recognition, education and truth,” Natalie said.
Natalie has over 17 years of experience in administration, project management and executive support within various industries, including human resources, education and training organisations, large corporations and private consultancy.
It’s a career trajectory she has loved and plans to continue in health, translational research, governance and ethics.
Her life almost took a different path as she danced from age 4 in many disciplines – classical ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, character and street Latin.
In 2016, Natalie moved from Gladstone to Brisbane when she was accepted into the Queensland Ballet Dance School of Excellence for Years 11 and 12 at Kelvin Grove State High School. She completed a degree in Dance at the Queensland University of Technology, but unfortunately, niggling injuries over many years led her to change her career path.
Following her passion for health, she moved into health care, became a certified Pilates instructor in 2000 and qualified Remedial Masseuse in 2003. In 2023, Natalie achieved a statement of attainment (partial completion within Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance) and her interest in health care continues to invigorate her life.
If you meet with Natalie, you’re bound to hear about her fur baby, Willa, a black and tan Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who, given half a chance, will accidentally pop up on Zoom.
