This session brings together four leading experts in health economics.
Associate Professor Jean Spinks (Chair) - The University of Queensland Jean’s work focuses on primary care challenges including needs-based workforce planning, culturally appropriate and accessible care, quality improvement, and digital innovation. She serves on the Economics Sub Committee of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee, providing expertise on clinical and economic evaluations of medicines.
Professor Luke Connelly - The University of Queensland Luke's research interests include health service innovations to improve the health of people with chronic kidney disease, the economics of disability and insurance, compensable injury compensation schemes, and the determinants of health. He has served on several public committees, including the Medical Services Advisory Committee.
Professor Joshua Byrnes - Griffith University Joshua's research expertise centres on the design and analysis of studies for the purpose of measuring and demonstrating value in health. He has significantly impacted and influenced policy, practice and funding decisions in the Australian health system.
Professor Steven McPhail - Queensland University of Technology Steven is a health economist, clinical trialist, health services researcher and former clinician who works at the intersection of health economics, implementation science and health policy. He is the Director of the Australian Centre for Health Services Innovation and the Centre for Healthcare Transformation.
