Jane Campbell thrives on the opportunity to be part of a small team making a big difference, so joining Health Translation Queensland (HTQ) was a logical next step in her career.
Jane has spent 30 years supporting executives, starting her career as a legal secretary in her hometown of Adelaide before working in Sydney for several years.
In 1994, Jane moved to Brisbane to start a small home improvement company, before moving on to spend 15 years at The University of Queensland (UQ). Jane worked in various UQ roles, including as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy-Vice Chancellor (Academic).
Before joining HTQ in December 2023, Jane was Executive Assistant to a Director of Biomedical Research at Mater Research.
Jane is hard-pressed to choose a career highlight so far.
“So many to choose from! One that stands out was receiving a handwritten thank you card from The Honourable Penelope Wensley AC when I was the lead Protocol Officer at the 50th anniversary of the Alumni Friends of The University of Queensland,” Jane said.
“Before I started professional work, I remember when I was 16 and taught jazz ballet to 5-year-old kids. They called me “Miss Jane”, which was too cute!”
Now the HTQ Senior Administration Officer, Jane’s role includes executive and administrative support to the leadership team, and secretariat services to the Board. HTQ’s vision inspires her work.
“It is great to be part of a team working to achieve improved population health outcomes by encouraging collaborative partnerships that translate scientific discovery and knowledge into practice,” Jane said.
“I look forward to continuing to support the activities of HTQ and furthering my knowledge of the sector and my networks in the coming years.”
