Dr Celia Webby

Interim Executive Director

Dr Celia Webby is an accomplished research translation leader and facilitator with over 18 years of experience across the university, health care, not-for-profit and technology commercialisation sectors.

Celia brings extensive expertise across the full translational research pipeline—ranging from generating patented research discoveries, working with researchers to commercialise their discoveries, and partnering with researchers and clinician-researchers to shape and implement strategic research agendas. She has played a key role in securing more than $50 million in nationally competitive health and medical funding, and has led and supported numerous large-scale, collaborative health research ventures.

Celia has in-depth knowledge of Queensland’s health research capability and capacity, through authoring recent capability statements across infectious disease, cancer and cardiovascular research. Celia also co-authored the Queensland Health and Medical Research Funding Analysis, which informed HTQ’s Roadmap for Strengthening Health Research and Translation in Queensland.

Celia holds a PhD from Massey University (New Zealand), an MBA from The University of Queensland, and is a past recipient of the Violette and Samuel Glasstone Fellowship from the University of Oxford.
