2nd National HREC Conference 1-3 December 2021

Second HREC conference a resounding success

In December 2021, Health Translation Queensland hosted the second National Human Research Ethics Committees Conference. A record-breaking 1,528 people registered for the online meeting with 1,030 delegates attending across all three days. The maximum in one session was 467 people, who joined Professor Ian Kerridge’s plenary presentation on ‘Science at warp speed’.

The feedback was positive from HREC and non-HREC participants alike and feedback included the following statements – testimony to the value of this event for the health translation sector across the country.

  • "Incredibly well organised in all aspects. Vitally interesting and relevant.”
  • “I enjoyed every minute. Such a great opportunity for a lay member to extend my knowledge to assist my work on an HREC (I want to be a help, not a pest!). Thank you for making it free and accessible.”
  • “I think the timing and the presentation are excellent. I live in a remote area, and it would not be possible for me to attend a conference in person.”

Recordings of the sessions are now available on the HREC 2021 resources page.
