Trauma, Critical Care and Recovery

Overview

The Trauma, Critical Care and Recovery Theme facilitates the partnership and collaboration of researchers, clinicians and other key stakeholders with the vision of optimising trauma care delivery in Queensland, and more broadly.

The theme provides a platform to improve quality and cost-effective care from the time of injury through to optimal recovery. This can be achieved through holistic management in the various stages of care, including prevention, pre-hospitalisation, hospitalisation, rehabilitation and social reintegration. Underpinned by excellence in research and education, the vision is to deliver trauma care that minimises the impact of traumatic injuries, reduces trauma related deaths and ongoing disability, improves rehabilitation and recovery outcomes, and promotes injury prevention.

Aims

  • This theme aims to improve trauma care, critical care and patient recovery outcomes by:
  • Strengthening the quality of effective and efficient management systems and multidisciplinary input
  • Focusing on research that provides better patient outcomes and clinical service delivery
  • Translating, adopting and implementing the knowledge gained from research into better patient outcomes after trauma
  • Strengthening the delivery of training and education programs in all aspects of trauma management
  • Enhancing trauma and recovery data collection and reporting.
