In a strategic move for translational health research in Queensland, the Queensland Genomics Health Alliance is integrating with Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners (BDHP). BDHP Executive Director David Bunker said BDHP’s collaborative network is a natural home for Queensland Genomics as it enters the final year of its $25-million, five-year program of work. “Genomics is an increasingly important field of work, and BDHP will play a valuable role in ensuring Queensland builds on the achievements of Queensland Genomics, and the State’s investment in digital health, generating positive returns for the Queensland health system,” he said. “This move will help us continue the acceleration of genomics research into healthcare and maximise the investment Queensland has already made and will make in this field. “It will strengthen and inspire collaborations across research, education and healthcare, boosting our state’s capability in precision health and personalised medicine. “From a new base within BDHP, the Queensland Genomics team will complete its current program of research and engagement work, as well as plan for the future direction of, and investment in genomics and precision medicine in Queensland,” Mr Bunker said.
