The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) has announced the nine initial nodes of the Health Studies Australian National Data Asset (HeSANDA) network, national infrastructure to support the sharing and reuse of health research data. Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners (BDHP) led the proposal for the HeSANDA Queensland Node, calling on its collaborative health network of leading universities, hospitals and research institutes to develop the successful pitch. BDHP Partner, the Australian e-Health Research Centre (AEHRC), will lead the next phase of the Queensland initiative, which commences in Q3 2021. AEHRC is CSIRO’s national digital health program and a joint venture with the Queensland Government. The HeSANDA network aims to increase the impact, integrity and efficiency of research, ultimately providing health benefits for all Australians. It will support activities like new research, meta-analysis and clinical guideline development. By creating a national asset from the clinical trials data of health research projects, HeSANDA will help to maximise public investment in health research across the country.
