Professor Harvey Whiteford
Harvey Whiteford is interim Director of the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research, West Moreton Health, Professor of Population Mental Health at the University of Queensland, and Affiliate Professor of Global Health at the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation, University of Washington in Seattle.
He trained in medicine, psychiatry and public health and has held senior positions in government, including those of Director of Mental Health in the Queensland and the Federal governments in Australia and at the World Bank in Washington DC. He took up his Professorial appointment at the University of Queensland in 2001 and between 2018 and 2020 served on Australia’s Productivity Commission for their mental health inquiry.
His research interests are in modelling the global epidemiology and burden of mental disorders, and in the design and planning of mental health services.
