Queensland Genomics

Genomic medicine enables us to predict disease risk, diagnose illness and develop new treatments. The use of genomic medicine is expected to grow exponentially in coming years due to further advances in science and technology.

Queensland Genomics was established in 2016 with the aim of transforming health care in Queensland using genomics. The program was completed in June 2021.

The $25 million 5-year program was funded by the Queensland Government and administered by Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners (now Health Translation Queensland), with the aim of benefitting Queensland patients, clinicians, the health system and leading research groups.

Queensland Genomics invested in genomics health implementation projects, which brought together Queensland’s health and hospital services’ innovation, with advancing medical and social research, to accelerate the adoption of medical genomics into mainstream health care.
