BDHP Chair Dr Robin Mortimer, welcomed the $10 million funding announcement from the Medical Research Futures Fund to support existing and new Advanced Health Research and Translation Centres and Centres for Innovation in Regional Health. “Queensland is a global leader in biomedical research and is uniquely positioned to take advantage of this announcement,” Dr Mortimer said. “We are delighted with the Federal Government’s commitment to translational research and, as an applicant for Advanced Health Research and Translation Centre designation; we eagerly await the outcomes of this process.” Dr Mortimer said the translation of health and medical research was a strategic focus of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), which aligned with BDHP’s mission. “BDHP’s primary objective is bringing innovative research from the laboratory to patients as efficiently and effectively as possible,” he said. “Translational research involves teams of clinicians, researchers and patients working together to solve health challenges faster and deliver solutions to health issues affecting thousands of Queenslanders.” Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners is a partnership of 10 of Queensland’s leading hospital and health services, universities, research institutes and primary care, focused on taking local and international research and accelerating its application to new treatments.Quicklinks
