Sarah Scott has divided her career equally between the education and health sectors, giving her an abundance of skills and experience to manage projects within a collaborative network like Health Translation Queensland (HTQ).
Sarah joined the HTQ team in a new role as Project Manager – Networks and Engagement and is already embedded in HTQ’s development of its Clinical Research Networks (CRNs)
“HTQ commissioned a health needs assessment. Now we’re engaging with stakeholders to evaluate this assessment and prioritise the health areas. My responsibilities include working with our stakeholders to confirm which CRNs HTQ will embark on first and ensure that they are a true reflection of all HTQ partners,” Sarah said.
“As a newcomer to HTQ, I can see that it is still evolving, and that is exciting because there are opportunities to influence the outcome. I believe HTQ will continue to expand on its remit.”
Before joining HTQ, Sarah was the Project Development Lead at Brisbane North PHN. There, she identified, commissioned and coordinated Federal Government funded projects to improve service delivery in aged and community health care. Prior to this, Sarah spent six years at Mater Health Services, providing business support for one of Queensland’s leading tertiary diabetes and endocrine centres.
Despite enjoying the experience in both these organisations, Sarah rates her career highlight as working in a state primary school in London. “I was a business services officer at the school, which was predominately in a non-English speaking and socio-economically disadvantaged area. We made small changes at that school that made a big difference to children who had very little, and that was incredibly rewarding.”
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Master of Business and a Postgraduate Diploma in International Language Teaching Development.
A global citizen, Sarah has travelled to more than 50 countries and worked in the United Kingdom, Canada and Taiwan before returning home to Brisbane. While she still has a wanderlust, Sarah is adamant it can wait until her twins are old enough to enjoy travelling too.
