Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners (BDHP) has appointed David Bunker in the new role of Executive Director for the Queensland collaborative health translation network. BDHP Board Chair Sue Scheinpflug said Mr Bunker’s appointment marked the beginning of a new chapter for BDHP. “We have done significant work this year to prioritise BDHP’s activities and define its future direction. During this process, we identified the need to elevate the leadership role, bringing it in line with other Advanced Health Research and Translation Centres in Australia. “For the Executive Director role, we sought an engaging leader passionate about translational research. We were looking for a senior executive with diverse experience and the business acumen to drive greater collaboration across our network and to enhance BDHP’s brand reputation. “David brings significant knowledge and experience to this role. He is familiar with working in senior leadership roles in health and research and has an excellent reputation for connecting with others to deliver business transformation. “David is currently the Queensland Genomics Executive Director, a role which bears similarities to the BDHP one with its emphasis on leading the integration of health, research and education for better health outcomes. “Given his integral role in setting up Queensland Genomics, David will continue to provide a level of strategic leadership to the Queensland Genomics Health Alliance for six months and serve on its board. “We are confident this arrangement will benefit both organisations during the transition period. “We also acknowledge and thank Acting General Manager for BDHP Dr Susan Hawes, who has worked tirelessly to ensure BDHP has maintained its momentum during this phase,” Ms Scheinpflug said. David worked in a variety of international senior roles in the technology industry before moving into the healthcare sector as the Head of Strategy, Architecture and Clinical Informatics at the National eHealth Transition Authority. David is currently the Executive Director of Queensland Genomics.
David is an active member of several boards, including Epilepsy Queensland, the National Children’s Digital Health Collaborative and the Australian Alliance for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare.
His qualifications include a Master of Technology and Innovation Management. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Fellow of the Australian College of Health Informatics.
